Brilliant stay staff were friendly and helpful 5 stars
Stayed here for two nights with my husband and two children. I hate having to leave a bad review but unfortunately it was not what we were expecting. The Pros: - Staff were pleasant (but not overly friendly) Breakfast was nice (but I think €6.50 is a bit pricey for a child's breakfast) Room was spacious enough and had all the facilities you would need. Bathroom was clean and modern enough with a bath and shower facilities. Rate was excellent. The Cons:- It is a very old fashioned "old country style" hotel with very dark heavy décor which looks a bit neglected. (not my cup of tea but I understand a lot of people would like this) First thing that hit me when I walked into the room was the sun streaming through really DIRTY windows. I understand it is on a busy road, but these should be cleaned regularly especially when the windows can actually open fully into the room. A quick wipe each time the room is cleaned would not take a big effort. Bedding etc. was clean but carpet was stained and top of TV, Chests etc were dusty. There was a shower curtain instead of a glass shower panel on the bath. (This is a pet hate of mine and unfortunately is the case in a lot of hotel rooms.) There were not enough towels supplied for a family of four. We had some of our own with us so didn't need to request more. We ate in the bar on the second night and the food was not good. The "House Style Chicken Curry" consisted of some chopped up cooked chicken breast with "made to order" curry sauce mix poured over it. The sauce mix hadn't even been cooked through. I sent it back and was not charged for it. Sausages one of my kids got were shrivelled up into nothing and chips were greasy. Hubby did say the soup was lovely though. We had a room at the front of the hotel which was right on a busy street. It is VERY VERY noisy at night (so very little sleep for me) which I can understand is out of the control of the hotel but something to note if you are considering staying here. Finally the multi story car park is terrible and quite dangerous. The ramps going from one level to another are terribly narrow. (a car going down in front of us got some nasty damage on the bottom of one of the doors from trying to manoeuvre around the kerbs on each end of the ramps) and pedestrians also need to use these ramps. In conclusion, I'm afraid I would not stay in this hotel again and would not recommend it to any of my friends, but for someone who likes the "Old Country Hotel" feel it would be OK.
Central location, beautiful hotel, spacious rooms, very friendly staff, I really love this hotel and will be going back with my children, so comfortable and cosy too.
